Questions & Answers

These are questions we get all the time from our clients. If you don't see your question answered, please contact us. Thanks!

Is the paint smell harmful?

If this is a concern to you we can do our best to minimize the smell using low or no V.O.C. paints or finishes. Please mention this concern when requesting an estimate from World Class Painting.

Can I leave my home while you’re working?

Absolutely, we are fully licensed, insured, and bonded. Our professional staff frequently works in unoccupied houses.  If you have concerns about making sure your home is locked up before and after we come in, let us know and we'd be happy to accommodate.

Your bid is higher than others...why?

World Class Painting frequently checks its pricing models to ensure that we are in line with others companies providing the same level of painting, drywall, or pre-finishing services.  If you have concerns about the amount of your bid, talk with us and we'll see what we can do to get into the price range you expected.

Can you match $75 price to paint a bedroom?

A professional painter can prep, cut-in twice, roll walls twice, and de-prep an average room in about 4 hours. The average wage for a painter is around $18.75 plus $40 for 2 gallons of paint and $10 in supplies equals $125 without including insurance or other business costs. A painter offering this low price is cutting corners somewhere and it is not in the best interest of the purchaser or painter to operate this way.

Do I need to purchase paint?

The majority of our bids include paint and materials.  Please refer to your estimate or contact World Class Painting if you have any questions.

What do I need to prepare in my home before you come?

Interior – Please move any furniture away from the area(s) to be finished and remove items from the walls; our bids will include prep work such as taping off woodwork and repairing small imperfections.  If your drywall requires repair, we'll always discuss that with you during the bidding process.

Exterior – If you have a particular plant, flower, or area that you want protected please move it away from the home if you can; our bids will include power washing and protecting areas on the ground.

What are my color choices?

If you find a color you like we can match it in almost any product.  We also provide a free color consultation and can refer you to some really great color choosing tools either online or for your smartphone, if you'd like.

How do I care for my woodwork?

You can use most cleaners on your enameled or stained woodwork. Moisture levels are important to watch (especially around wood windows). Scratches and dullness can be refreshed using a product such as Aulwood wood refinisher found at your local home improvement store.

How do I care for my painted walls?

Test out the product you intend to use on a more hidden spot on the wall, to ensure that the color will hold up.  Usually, water alone or with a mild dish soap will do the trick.  Use light circular strokes beginning at the center of a stain and work outwards. Too much pressure might leave a burnish in the finish or shiny spot on your wall.

Are you certified to deal with existing lead paint?

World Class Painting, Inc  is a Certified Lead Contractor which means we have been through the proper training and will take care of your project in the manner specified by lead paint laws.

How do I care for a wood front door?

In Spring and Fall check for any signs of wear such as:

  • Hairline cracks in the top coat of finish.
  • Changes in the color of the finish.
  • Changes in the texture of the finish, such as flaking or scaling.
  • Dullness or chalkiness in the finish.

A light sand and re-coat once or twice a year in the spring and fall will go a long way in preventing large costs in the future to fix damage.

What kind of paint do you use?

Most frequently we use high quality paints from Sherwin Williams.  We receive a corporate discount there and pass along our savings to you.  We do also have experience working with several other retailers.
